So, in Washington when it snows, we all enjoy it for a few days and then get cabin fever because the state is not prepared to clear massive amounts of snow and ice to make driving conditions safe. Well, that stage of winter is over and where temperatures were in the upper 20s and low 30s, they are now in the 40s and 50s and, surprise, it is raining. Which means all the snow is melting, fast.
Unfortunately, the many rivers, lakes, estuaries, streams, creeks, and ditches cannot handle the sudden inundation and there is flooding. I know our area made national headlines last year and we are expecting the same this year with rivers reaching flood level tonight and not cresting until Friday at seven and a half feet above flood level. I don't know how much more this poor area can handle. People who are just getting their homes back in order from last year are now facing flooding again. Fortunately we were very picky about where we bought our house and we are not in a flood plain, but there are people in our area are being evacuated and our ward building has been turned into an evacuation center.
What a winter.
Here's my favorite local news website. komonews.com They have some great pictures.

Wow, your winter is over already? Crazy! Sorry about all the flooding. That is really scary.
